We have invented theoretically after many years of painstaking researches by our scientists and engineers, Two Novel Low-Cost Technologies for (1) Clean Energy Generation and Clean Transportation, and (2) Carbon Capture, so as to achieve Climate Mitigation at Scale at the lowest cost. We call the new clean energy technology a New Renewable Energy Technology (NRET).
II.7.Potential Economic Benefits of the innovation: After Phase I and Phase II,III projects the technology will provide (1) 100% new Ambient power generator, APWG systems (small and large) at low costs with high power density; (2) clean power generation at significantly low costs and with high power density using only ambient air or water without any fuel, solar panels or wind turbines for the first time; (iii) fast decarbonization from industries and the air/climate mitigation at lowest cost; (3) lower cost of clean, electrical power for customers with increasing profits for production and distribution companies; All industries, public organizations (libraries, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, transportation etc.) and individual houses both in cities, villages and remote areas will be especially benefitted from the success of this project. The technology will significantly lower the cost of driving current EVs, green hydrogen production. It will enable air-conditioning/ refrigeration with reduced load on the grid; (4) heating during winter with zero emission and zero GWP as equipment and generation costs far lower than all other existing technologies. This technology is expected to reduce the cost of fusion research by providing clean power at low costs to generate high power laser beams required for the fusion. (5) It will also enable ships and submarines to be driven only by the ambient thermal energy of water and air. This energy is expected to be sustainably maintained by the sun and our analysis shows that the temporary local release of colder air or water will not affect the environment as the air or water will soon thermalize with the rest of the masses.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Overview:
(1) Project Title: Validating a new Renewable Energy Technology (NRET) and prototyping a clean 100 kVA ambient thermal power generator.
(2) Process: A Novel thermodynamic cycle known as the ‘’ Hybrid Power Cycle’’ is invented and proposed. It consists of a power cycle and a refrigeration cycle in a partial form, using fixed amounts of the same working fluid in closed cycles. The vapor in the partial refrigeration cycle undergoes a polytropic compression with the rejected heat removed by the compressed liquid in the partial power cycle before both are combined at the same high pressure prior to entering an ambient heat exchanger. Here they absorb ambient heat (normally from air flow) that raises the temperature of the cryogen mixture and enthalpy, and it undergoes turbo expansion (when the desired temperature is reached) yielding an external achievable work of 60.63 kJ/kg of liquid nitrogen. This technology can be used to generate clean electrical and mechanical power with high power density without any fuel and water to cool any machine parts, using only ambient heat (from air or water) with no environmental pollution at a cost far lower than any current technology can provide.
The intellectual merit:
This technology offers the following merits : 1. Converting for the first-time ambient energy (air) into clean electrical power continuously at any place on the earth with ideal theoretical efficiency 68% without using any fuel, solar panels and wind turbines. 2. No water is needed for cooling any part of the power generating equipment like that of thermal power plants. 3. Converting heat of compression of liq. Nitrogen(N2) vapor into increased enthalpy of liq. N2; (4) Reducing the work input in compression of liq. N2 vapor using a novel concept- Polytropic Screw Compression. 5. Output with high power density at low cost; 6. Replenishment of a small amount of liquid N2 only once after continuous operation for a month. 7. A new low-cost renewable energy technology. 8. Easily implementable in all places on the earth. 9. Completely hazard free. 10. Successful completion of the project will establish a new thermodynamic hybrid power engine cycle to convert ambient thermal energy (from environment) to clean electrical power at an installation cost about 1/4th to 1/3 of solar panels and wind turbines. (11) The equipment is a clean, compact, lightweight, low-cost renewable energy generator for continuous (24×7) power supply at any place on the earth without using any fuel. (12) It will lead to (i)understanding of a new polytropic compressor that will be built in this project; (ii) a new hybrid cycle that consists of a power generation cycle along with a refrigeration cycle with ideal theoretical efficiency of 100%. (13) It includes complete theory, processes, design of some important equipment components, challenges, mitigations and graduate student-mentoring plan. (14) Safe, completely hazard free and equipment costs much lower than solar panel, wind turbine and fossil fuel power generators.
Broader Impacts:
The prototyping of the new Ambient power generator, APWG will provide 100% clean, hazard-free power generating systems (small and large) at low costs, low weights with continuous supply of clean power with high density at low-costs for fast decarbonization without any fuel, solar panels, and wind turbines at any place on earth. It will lower costs for customers with increasing profits for production and distribution companies. All industries, public organizations (libraries, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, transportation etc.) and individual houses will be especially benefitted from the success of this project. The prototyping efforts can also help significantly to (1) lower the cost of driving current EVs and green hydrogen production. (2) air-conditioning, cooling during summer without using any grid power and freon and nearly cost-free; (3) It will convert summer heat to surplus clean surplus power with sufficient cooling effect in many states (3) it will provide pathways for 100% clean and low-cost transportation and ways to harness vast thermal energy of water in lake, river, and ocean which is sustainably maintained by the sun. This technology is expected to reduce the cost of nuclear fusion research by providing clean power at low costs to generate high power laser beams required for the fusion.
